How to Get a Digital Signature Certificate

To proceed with the e-invoicing system, you are required to obtain a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) from a licensed certification authority. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to purchase and configure your digital signature.


How to Purchase a Digital Signature Certificate

Step 1: Request a Quotation

  • Reach out to a licensed Certification Authority (CA) via email to request a quotation for a Digital Signature Certificate.

Step 2: Issue Payment

  • Complete the payment by issuing a Purchase Order (PO) or Payment Advice as per the received quotation.

Step 3: Document Submission

  • Submit the necessary documents to the Certification Authority for processing. The typical processing time is 3-5 working days.

Step 4: Verification

  • The Certification Authority will contact your administrative point of contact to verify the provided information.

Step 5: Certificate Issuance

  • Upon successful verification, the digital certificate will be issued and sent to your administrative contact.

Step 6: Certificate Configuration

  • Work with your ERP provider to configure the digital certificate within your ERP solution.

Note: According to Subsection 12(3) of the DSA 1997, a licensed certification authority can continue to operate after license expiration if the renewal application is under review.


Required Documents for POS Digicert

Application Form

The following information is required to complete the application form for a digital signature:

  • Certificate Type: Soft certificate (for a single system issuing invoices)
  • Certificate Validity: 1 year
  • Company Details: Business Registration Number (BRN), Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), address, organization email, etc.

Administrative Contact Information

Provide the following details for the administrative contact:

  • Applicant’s name
  • NRIC/Passport No.
  • Designation
  • Contact numbers
  • Applicant’s email address

Invoicing Information

The following details need to be filled in for invoicing:

  • Person in Charge (PIC)
  • PIC’s email address
  • PIC’s office phone number
  • Mode of payment

Signing the Application Form

  • The application form must be manually signed by both the administrative contact and a director of the company.

Letter of Authorization (LOA)

In order to proceed with the digital certificate application on behalf of the client, a Letter of Authorization (LOA) must be completed and signed.

Required Information for the LOA:

  • PIC’s name from Complyance
  • Complyance's registered name
  • PIC’s passport number
  • Complyance’s BRN
  • The LOA must be signed by the client company’s director.

Note: The LOA should be on the client’s official letterhead.


Payment and Quote Process

  • Payment Receipt: Once the client confirms payment, Complyance will handle the payment to POS Digicert.
